Business Technology Association Scholarships
Scholarship Sponsored by Business Technology Association
The Dorothy R. Ames Scholarship Fund was unveiled on February 23, 1968, during a retirement dinner held in Great Neck, Long Island, New York, to commemorate Ames' significant contributions to the industry. The announcement was made upon her retirement as the executive vice president of the Ames Supply Co. You can view the announcement of her retirement in a 1968 NOMDA Hot Line here. The fund eventually evolved into the BTA Scholarship Foundation, which provides financial assistance to the employees and their children of BTA member dealerships across the country.
Every year, the BTA grants two scholarships worth $3,000, two worth $2,000, and several worth $1,500 to eligible candidates. The selection of scholarship recipients is carried out by an unbiased and independent evaluator.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria at the time of evaluation and award:
- They must be a full-time employee (working 30 or more hours per week) or the child of a full-time employee at a current BTA member dealership.
AND
- They must be a full-time student, maintaining a course load of at least 12 hours (nine hours for graduate students) of college credits per semester throughout the academic year covered by the scholarship.
