I. Purpose
The NECA Scholarship Program is designed with the explicit aim of offering financial support to deserving Navajo students in their pursuit of higher education. Our hope is that these students will go on to become valuable contributors to the Navajo Nation. The scholarship amount awarded is $1,500 per term.
II. Checklist for Scholarship Recipients
- Provide your official e-transcript.
- Submit a progress report. This should detail what you've learned from your courses or projects, any community service, club activities, outreach programs, etc., and should be addressed to the NECA board of directors.
- Ensure that your transcript and progress report are submitted at the end of both your fall and spring terms.
III. Information for New Applicants
- All communication will be directly with the student.
- No application form is required (refer to the checklist below section IV).
- The scholarship is open to both undergraduate and graduate students.
- Students majoring in construction, engineering, business, and skilled trade programs are eligible.
- All necessary documents should be submitted together (refer to the checklist below section IV) via email, fax, mail, or in person.
- The NECA board of directors will review and approve all documents on a quarterly basis.
- Deadlines for document submission are as follows:
- For fall funding, submit by 4/1 and 7/1
- For spring funding, submit by 10/1 and 1/1
- Successful applicants will be informed via email only.
- No funding is available for the summer term.
IV. Checklist for New Applicants
- Applicants must be full-time students, taking 12 credit hours or more.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher must be maintained.
- Submit proof of enrollment or an admission letter.
- A Financial Need Analysis (FNA) form completed by your school is required. This will help identify your financial needs.
- Submit a letter of interest, including your biography, goals, and crucially, your contact information.
- Provide an official transcript.
- Submit a copy of your CIB.
- A letter of recommendation from a faculty member at your school is required.
