Introduction
Robinson & Hadeed, a leading family law firm serving Gig Harbor, Tacoma and the Puget Sound region, is dedicated to helping students access higher education and easing some of their financial pressures. Believing that every student deserves the chance to pursue college and build a meaningful life, the firm is offering a scholarship for college and college-bound students who have overcome adversity or trauma and who show strong resolve to pursue education and career success.
About the firm
Partners Jeffrey A. Robinson and Shannon Hadeed are committed to serving people who cannot represent themselves. Robinson & Hadeed regularly provide pro bono legal services and engage in community leadership. Notable contributions include:
- Assisting with the formation of the Gig Harbor Chamber of Commerce, drafting key documents and serving on its board
- Participating in Tacoma Pro Bono (formerly Volunteer Lawyers Service) to deliver free legal help to low-income residents
- Volunteering with the Puget Sound Legal Assistance Foundation in Tacoma and launching the Senior Citizen Law Project
- Helping establish multiple nonprofits focused on protecting senior citizens
Driven by a mission to expand equal access to the civil justice system, Robinson & Hadeed created this scholarship for students who are currently enrolled in, or planning to enroll in, programs that align with those values. The firm recognizes education as a foundation for future leadership and seeks to support students from all socioeconomic backgrounds in accessing academic and community opportunities.
Scholarship details
Name: Rudy Webster Family & Community Scholarship
Award amount: $1,500
Permitted uses: Scholarship funds may be applied toward tuition, books, and related fees at the qualifying U.S. high school, college, or graduate program where the recipient is enrolled or will enroll.
Essay prompt (choose one)
Write a response of no more than 500 words to ONLY one of the following:
- What does family or community mean to you?
- Do you volunteer in your community? If so, describe your activities and why you volunteer.
Eligibility & selection criteria
- Applicants must be currently enrolled in an accredited U.S. educational program: this includes high school (juniors or seniors), community college, undergraduate, or graduate programs. High school graduates and those with a GED are also included.
- Applicants must be enrolled as either an undergraduate student or in their final year of high school.
- Applicants must be at least 17 years old.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 is required (see transcript requirement below).
Application materials (required)
All applicants must submit the following between January 1, 2026 and April 30, 2026. Submissions received outside of this window will not be reviewed.
1. Updated resume or CV.
2. Essay responding to one essay prompt (maximum 500 words). PDF or Word document preferred.
3. A valid transcript (high school, college, or university) showing current academic standing and at least a 3.0 GPA, plus proof of acceptance and/or current enrollment.
Incomplete applications lacking any required material will be rejected.
Deadline & notification
- Application deadline: April 30, 2026 (applications must be received by this date).
- Winner notified / announced: June 15, 2026. The selected student will be informed of the $1,500 award on that date.
