Wounded First Responders Scholarship

First responders, including firefighters, paramedics, and police officers, often find themselves in perilous situations as they strive to save lives. Tragically, many have suffered injuries or even lost their lives in the line of duty.
At the law firm of Parthemos, Curran, Buelow and Polizzi, PLLC, we wish to honor these brave individuals who risk everything for the safety of the public. We have established the Wounded First Responders Scholarship, aimed at supporting injured first responders and their families who aspire to pursue undergraduate or graduate studies. Each semester, we will grant a $1000 scholarship to one deserving student. If you are interested, please familiarize yourself with our scholarship criteria detailed below.
Who Can Apply?
The Wounded First Responders Scholarship welcomes applications from individuals who satisfy the following conditions:
- You are a first responder who has been injured on duty OR a child of an injured first responder.
- You are enrolled or intend to enroll in an undergraduate or graduate program within the United States for the Fall 2025 semester.
- You are at least 17 years of age.
- You are a U.S. citizen.
Submission Guidelines
We request all applicants to submit an essay in response to the prompt provided on the right-hand side.
Your essay should be submitted in .docx or PDF format, with a word limit of approximately 500 words. Additionally, please provide evidence of your enrollment in an accredited university and your employment record as a first responder.
Essay Prompt: Discuss how your experience as a first responder – or as a child of a first responder – has transformed you. How does your pursuit of higher education connect to your experience?
Assessment Criteria
Our panel of judges will assess all submissions based on the following guidelines:
- Does your essay comprehensively address all aspects of the prompt?
- Is your essay well-structured and reader-friendly?
- Does your essay reflect your unique viewpoint and narrate an original story?
