Linda Thompson Memorial Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Association of Destination Management Executives International
We welcome applications from individuals across the globe who are gearing up for a career in Destination Management. The educational program you're enrolled in should be of a duration of at least one year. Two scholarships are up for grabs: one for a student from North America and another for a student from outside North America.
Application Procedure
To apply for the Linda Thompson Memorial Scholarship, you will need to:
- Provide a CV / Résumé in PDF format
- Submit a Letter of Recommendation in PDF format from either a university professor or a professional from the event industry. This letter should confirm your:
- Dedication and capability to complete the educational program
- Prior experience in the event management industry, whether as a volunteer or a paid professional
- Potential to handle the challenges of the Destination Management profession
- Write an Essay (at least 250 words in PDF format) that offers insight into your personality and covers the following areas (all submissions should be in English):
- Your interest in and/or understanding of the Destination Management/Event Management industry
- The focus of your studies and your objectives
- Information about your volunteer work and extra-curricular activities
- How this scholarship will assist you in achieving your stated objectives
- A recent event you attended and the improvements you could make to enhance its appeal
- For Additional Points - Submit a 45 - 60 second video introducing yourself and explaining why you're interested in the Destination Management industry
Only applications that are fully completed and include all necessary attachments will be considered.
Evaluation Process
The ADMEI Scholarship Committee, made up of Destination Management professionals, will review all applications. The final decision will be made in late November, with the winners being informed in December. Winners will also receive an invitation to the ADMEI Annual Conference (usually held in February) where they will be recognized.
While scholarship recipients are not required to attend the conference to accept the scholarship, those who choose to attend will receive complimentary conference registration, hotel accommodations, and assistance with airfare to and from the event.
