Background and Purpose
In 2013 the Asphalt Contractors Association of Florida established the Scholarship Committee as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit named the Florida Asphalt Scholarship Program (FASP). FASP raises funds and awards scholarships to students whose educational success will benefit the asphalt industry. The program functions as an umbrella for multiple named scholarships (details below).

General Eligibility
- Applicants must be planning to attend a college, university, technical, or vocational school (as specified by each scholarship).
- The applicant’s parent(s) or legal guardian must be a member of, or employed by a firm that is a member of, the Asphalt Contractors Association of Florida.
- Unless otherwise stated for a specific award, applicants must be Florida residents and graduating high school seniors in 2025.
- Scholarship amounts and terms may be adjusted at the discretion of the FASP Committee or Board where noted.

Scholarships

1) FASP Chair’s Scholarship
- Eligibility: Florida resident who is a graduating high school senior in 2025; parent(s) or legal guardian employed by a firm that is a member of the Asphalt Contractors Association of Florida.
- Intended fields of study: Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, Accounting, Business, or Computer Science/Information Technology.
- Award: $4,000 per year for up to four years (or adjusted by the FASP Committee).

2) Carroll Lance Memorial Scholarship
- Eligibility: Florida resident graduating high school in 2025; parent(s) or legal guardian employed by a member firm of the Asphalt Contractors Association of Florida.
- Intended fields of study: Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, Accounting, Business, or Computer Science/Information Technology.
- Award: One-time payment; amount determined by the FASP Board.

3) Mike Novak Memorial Scholarship
- Background: Newest named scholarship, established in 2022.
- Eligibility: Graduating high school seniors in 2025 whose parent(s) or legal guardian are employed by a firm that is a member of the Asphalt Contractors Association of Florida.
- Intended fields of study: Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, Accounting, Business, or Computer Science/Information Technology.
- Award: Single-year scholarship of $2,500.

4) FASP College Scholarship
- Eligibility: Florida resident and graduating high school senior in 2025; parent(s) or legal guardian employed by a member firm of the Asphalt Contractors Association of Florida.
- Intended fields of study: Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, Accounting, Business, or Computer Science/Information Technology.
- Award: One-time payment of $2,500 (or adjusted by the FASP Committee).

5) ACAF Scholarship
- Eligibility: Florida residents who are graduating high school seniors in 2025, individuals who have already graduated high school, or holders of a GED; applicants must be under age 25. Parent(s) or legal guardian must be employed by a firm that is a member of the Asphalt Contractors Association of Florida.
- Intended training: Continued education at accredited trade or vocational technical schools in programs such as mechanical, electrical, and welding — trades that support the asphalt and related construction industries.
- Award: One-time scholarship of $2,500 (or adjusted by the FASP Committee).

6) Trade Scholarships
- Purpose: Support enrollment in technical or vocational programs directly related to the road construction industry.
- Award amounts and durations vary at the discretion of the FASP Committee.
- Curriculum requirement: Enrollment in a program directly tied to road construction at a technical or vocational school.
- Application evaluation: (a) the application form, (b) high school transcript or GED certificate, and (c) letters of recommendation.
