Spillman-Bischoff Scholarship

Scholarship Sponsored by Georgia Association for Nursing Education Inc.

Eligibility Criteria for Applicants:

• Applicants must be currently enrolled in a nursing program that is accredited, as confirmed by the National Student Clearinghouse site.
• Applicants must be residents of Georgia, as evidenced by a Georgia driver's license or other proof of Georgia residency.
• Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale from previous academic work, as confirmed by an official transcript or a screenshot of the current cumulative GPA.
• Applicants who are not registered nurses must have completed at least one year of study, as confirmed by the above proofs.
• Applicants must provide two reference letters that demonstrate leadership, scholarship, and potential for success in nursing. These letters must be signed either with a verified e-signature or a hand-signed and scanned signature.

Preference will be given to applicants who fulfill the following conditions:

• Applicants who are enrolled in a school, college, or university in Georgia.
• Applicants who are members of a professional nursing organization/association, as evidenced by a membership card or other proof.
• Applicants who are graduate students for the Spillman-Bischoff Scholarship.
• Applicants who are ADN or BSN students for the Lucy Willard and Sarah Helen Kilgore Scholarships.
• Applicants who submit an essay that:
  • Outlines their professional goals.
  • Details a 5-year plan.
  • Explains how they plan to contribute to the advancement of nursing practice and healthcare services.
  • Describes their strategy for addressing social determinants of health and health inequities.
  • Explains the role of nurses in enhancing healthcare access and quality.

Deadline for Application:

• The deadline for receiving completed 2024-2025 Scholarship Applications is November 30, 2024.
• Applications that are not fully completed will not be taken into consideration.

Selection Procedure:

• Selection will be based on the applicant's adherence to the basic eligibility criteria as outlined by the Georgia Association for Nursing Education.
• The Scholarship Committee will select the applicants, and their selection will be ratified by the GANE Board of Directors.
• The scholarships will be presented to the recipients at the 2025 GANE conference, which will take place at the Callaway Gardens Resort Lodge from February 27 to March 1, 2025.
