Chao Family Foundation Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Asian Pacific Community Fund
Overview
Five scholarships of $4,000 each are available to graduating high school seniors. Awards are renewable annually for up to four years. Recipients must plan to enroll full-time as first-year students at any University of California (UC) or California State University (CSU) campus beginning in Fall 2026.
Eligibility
- Must be a high school senior residing in Los Angeles County or Orange County, California.
- Intend to begin as a first-year student at a UC or CSU in Fall 2026. (If selected, you will be required to provide an official college acceptance letter for verification.)
- Minimum cumulative unweighted high school GPA: 3.2.
- Household income must be at or below the County Low Income Level. (If selected, applicants must submit their 2024 or 2025 tax return to verify income.)
- Open to students pursuing any major. There is no ethnicity requirement.

Note: A single common application is used; completing it once will apply you to all scholarship programs for which you qualify.
Important dates and instructions
- Application portal opens: December 2025.
- Deadline: All application materials must be RECEIVED online by 11:59 p.m. PDT on Monday, April 20, 2026. Submissions received after that date/time will not be considered, regardless of postmark. Hard-copy submissions will not be accepted — all materials must be submitted through the online application system.
Use of funds
Scholarship awards are restricted to tuition expenses as defined by the college or university the recipient attends.
