Microsoft Women Scholarship

Scholarship Sponsored by Microsoft

Value: $5,000.00
Awards Available: 16
Deadline : Mar 16, 2026

Introduction
The Women at Microsoft Inclusion Network, in partnership with The Seattle Foundation, funds a scholarship to support graduating high school seniors who intend to pursue postsecondary education in technology-related fields. Awards are intended for students entering college or vocational-technical programs focused on technology, engineering, mathematics, or computer science.

Eligibility
To be considered for the Women at Microsoft Scholarship applicants must:
- Be a high school senior graduating this year.
- Plan to attend an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school in the United States on a full-time basis for the upcoming academic year, majoring in a field related to technology, engineering, math, or computer science.
- Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or an equivalent).

Additional eligibility notes:
- International students may apply if they will enroll at a U.S. institution.
- Microsoft employees and their children are not eligible to apply.

Award information
- Each selected student will receive a one-time award of $5,000.
- Up to 16 scholarships will be awarded.
- Awards are limited to undergraduate study. Previous recipients are not eligible to reapply.

Notification
- All applicants will be informed of the outcome in June.
- Notifications are delivered by email. Do not use a school or employer email address when creating your application account; provide a personal email that you will retain access to.

Scholarship payment
- Scholarship America administers payments on behalf of The Seattle Foundation.
- Disbursements are issued in early August and are made payable to the recipient’s school; checks are mailed directly to the institution.

How recipients are chosen
Finalists and recipients are selected through a multi-step process:
- Scholarship America determines finalists.
- Microsoft makes the final recipient selections from that finalist pool.
Selection factors include:
- Academic achievement
- Leadership and engagement in school and community activities
- Work experience
- A personal statement outlining educational and career goals
- Unusual personal or family circumstances
- An online recommendation

Financial need, as evaluated by Scholarship America, must be demonstrated for an applicant to receive an award. Not every applicant will be chosen as a recipient, and all applicants agree to accept the selection decisions as final.
