Ohio Agricultural Council Scholarships

Every year, the Ohio Agricultural Council (OAC) provides scholarships to support students who are interested in pursuing a career in agriculture or a related field. These scholarships are open to high school seniors who are about to start college and to undergraduate students who are already enrolled in college. The applicant or their parent or legal guardian must be a resident of Ohio.

The application process for the 2024-25 academic year will commence in the fall of 2024. All completed applications must be submitted to the Ohio Agricultural Council by February 15, 2024.

The OAC's scholarship program is designed to support students in their agricultural studies and to promote the growth of agriculture and agribusiness as viable career paths.

Scholarship Program Details

Each year, the Ohio Agricultural Council awards up to three (3) scholarships of $1,500 each to high school seniors from Ohio who intend to pursue a degree in agriculture. Additionally, up to three (3) $1,500 scholarships are awarded to undergraduate students from Ohio who are currently studying agriculture.

Selection Criteria

The selection of scholarship recipients is based on academic performance, leadership skills, community involvement, and responses to application essay questions. The selection committee comprises active members of the Ohio Agricultural Council. Scholarship winners will be invited to attend at least one Ohio Agricultural Council meeting and will receive a complimentary one-year membership in the Council. 

Successful applicants will be informed of their award no later than April. They will be honored at the 2023 OAC Hall of Fame Awards Breakfast at the Ohio State Fair on August 4, 2023. The scholarship funds are to be used for the 2023-2024 academic year.

Eligibility Criteria

The scholarships are open to high school seniors who are preparing to start college full-time or to full-time undergraduate students who are currently enrolled in college. The applicant or their parent/legal guardian must be a resident of Ohio. The applicant must have declared, or plan to declare, a major in agriculture at any two-year or four-year college or university. All application requirements must be fulfilled for consideration for a scholarship. A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 is preferred.

Application and Supporting Documents

A complete application package should include:

• A completed application form
• Transcript(s) (Please submit an updated transcript from the high school or college you are currently attending. First semester college students should include both their high school and college transcripts. Unofficial copies are acceptable.)
• A letter of recommendation (from someone other than a family member)
