Broward Education Foundation Scholarship Fund

Scholarship Sponsored by Broward Education Foundation

Value: $3,000.00
Awards Available: 100
Deadline : Apr 01, 2026

Introduction
The Broward Education Foundation raises funds to award scholarships to deserving Broward County Public Schools seniors so they can pursue higher education. Supported by private donors and Broward Advisors for Continuing Education (BRACE), these scholarships help eligible Broward County students attend community colleges, universities, or vocational/technical programs.

Who may apply
- Graduating seniors from Broward County Public Schools who have explored other financial aid options but still lack sufficient funds to attend college.

Basic eligibility requirements
Applicants selected for a Broward Education Foundation scholarship must meet all of the following criteria:

- Plan to enroll as a full‑time, degree- or certificate-seeking student at an accredited college, university, or technical college for the 2026–27 academic year.
- Be a Florida resident for at least one year prior to selection.
- Hold one of the following 2026 credentials:
- A 2026 high school diploma from a Broward County Public School or Broward County Public Charter school, or
- A 2026 State of Florida GED certificate obtained through Broward County Public Schools, or
- Completion of, or current attendance in, a Broward County Public School technical college program in 2026.

Important: If a recipient is later found ineligible because of an application error, a change in circumstances, omission of required information, or falsified statements, the Broward Education Foundation and/or the scholarship sponsor may revoke the award. Neither the Foundation nor the sponsor is obligated to provide alternate funding in that event.

How to apply and deadlines
- Complete the online scholarship application by April 1, 2026.
- Complete and submit the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). FAFSA access began briefly in October 2025 for Broward; applicants should complete the FAFSA as soon as it becomes available—typically during November–December 2025. The FAFSA for Fall 2026 will open in December 2025.
- Upload all required supporting documents (hard‑copy scans) by the posted deadlines—no later than April 1 through May 1, 2026, as applicable.
- Fulfill any essay requirements for each scholarship you apply to.

Additional scholarship-specific criteria
Some scholarships include extra requirements that affect selection. Read each scholarship’s description carefully and provide any requested supporting documentation.

Support documentation (submit if applicable)
Provide the following documents when required by a specific scholarship:

- Physician documentation (e.g., Dr. Harold and Gayle Cohen Scholarship).
- Proof of program completion or a letter of recommendation from an instructor (e.g., Urban Teacher Academy Program, CIO Council Technology Scholarship; technology teacher recommendation where requested).
- Proof of community service or letter(s) of recommendation from service locations (e.g., Urban Teacher Academy Program, City of Hallandale Beach scholarships).
- Financial eligibility documentation, such as prior-year household tax returns, an Eligibility Letter for Free/Reduced Lunch, or copies of Medicaid, SNAP, TANF, or HUD award letters. Note: Submitting the “Eligibility Letter for Free/Reduced Lunch” is acceptable even if the letter indicates you are not eligible; the requirement is to provide one of the listed documents for review.

Document upload instructions
- Upload scanned copies of all required supporting documents—do not mail originals. Keep a full copy of everything you submit for your records.
- You will be able to upload documents through Box (step 2) at www.browardedfoundation.org/apply.

Final notes
- Some scholarships require additional materials or have unique eligibility conditions—check each listing carefully.
- No deadline extensions will be granted.
