Ortega Foundation Scholarship Program

Overview
The Ortega Foundation created the Ortega Foundation Scholarship Program to honor its founder, Jose Antonio Ortega, Sr., who believed in supporting academically strong students’ pursuit of higher education. The award targets Miami-Dade County high school seniors who have earned an unweighted GPA of 3.5 or higher.
Award Amount
Recipients may receive up to $7,000 per year for up to four years. Scholarship payments can be applied to the recipient’s institution-approved cost of attendance. Note: awards are only for undergraduate study.
Eligibility
To be considered, applicants must:
- Be a resident of Miami-Dade County
- Be a high school senior graduating in Spring 2026
- Hold a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.5
Application and Deadline
All applications must be completed online by Sunday, March 29, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Submit your materials through the Miami Foundation’s scholarship portal at miamifoundation.org/scholarships. The Foundation will not accept mailed, faxed, or emailed applications. Please review your submission thoroughly to ensure it is complete.
Selection Process
A Scholarship Advisory Committee will evaluate and score applications and make final award decisions. Evaluation will take into account:
- Academic achievement
- Demonstrated financial need
- Responses to essay questions
- Personal statement essay
- Letter of recommendation
- A short personal video
