Pre-Engineering Scholarship

Overview
One annual scholarship of $2,000 ($1,000 per semester) is available for one graduating senior of Scottsbluff High School or Gering High School who plans to enroll at Western Nebraska Community College (WNCC) and pursue a pre‑engineering degree. The award covers one academic year.
Eligibility
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must be a graduating senior from Scottsbluff High School or Gering High School.
- Must be accepted to and enrolled at Western Nebraska Community College.
- Must register for at least 12 semester credit hours.
- Must be majoring in pre‑engineering.
Application materials (required)
- Completed and signed application (print must be legible).
- Three letters of recommendation.
- Personal statement explaining: reasons for applying; why you selected pre‑engineering; your academic/career plans and goals; financial need; and any other information you wish to share.
- Disclosure of any other scholarships applied for or already received.
- High school transcript and ACT scores (copies).
Important deadline
All application materials and supporting documents must be received by April 1.
Award terms and disbursement
- The scholarship is intended to be secondary to other awards. If another scholarship covers part but not all tuition, this scholarship will contribute up to $1,000 per semester toward any remaining tuition balance.
- Funds will be sent directly to Western Nebraska Community College each semester and posted to the student’s account.
Selection and conditions
The OTCF Scholarship Committee will choose a recipient and an alternate. If the selected student fails to meet the stated requirements, the scholarship will be withdrawn and awarded to the alternate.
