UNICO National seeks to advance the reputation of Italian Americans and celebrate Italian culture and heritage by supporting charitable, scientific, cultural, educational, and literary initiatives.
The online application is now OPEN for awards covering the 2026–2027 academic year.
Important information and eligibility
- Note: The application deadline has changed for this cycle.
- Application deadline: MARCH 15, 2026 (unless a specific scholarship states a different date).
- Residency / sponsorship requirement: Applicants must live in — or have a UNICO Chapter/District sponsor from — one of these states: California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, or Wisconsin.
- Exception: The Maria and Paolo Alessio Southern Italy Scholarship accepts applicants from all 50 states.
- Intended enrollment: Scholarships are for students who will be continuing their studies during the 2026–2027 academic year.
- Citizenship: Applicants must be U.S. citizens.
- Degree format: Students enrolled exclusively in online degree programs are not eligible for UNICO scholarships.
- UNICO membership: You do not have to be a UNICO member to apply. UNICANS and their family members may be sponsored by their local Chapters.
- Multiple scholarships: Each scholarship has its own application and specific requirements. You may apply to more than one scholarship if you meet each one’s eligibility rules.
- Previous recipients: If you received a UNICO Foundation award for 2025–2026 and that award is still active, you are not eligible to apply for any other UNICO Foundation scholarships during that award period.
- Application rules: Submit only one application per scholarship. Duplicate entries for the same scholarship will be disqualified. You may edit your application as many times as needed before final submission.
- Notifications and timeline: Judging will conclude in late May 2026; only selected recipients will be notified after that process is complete.
