Project Yellow Light/Hunter Garner Scholarship is a creative scholarship contest with a clear purpose: to inspire safer driving habits among your peers. As an applicant, your role is to produce work that persuades fellow students to avoid distracted driving.
Eligibility
- Open to students in the high school and college categories.
Prizes and deadlines
- Video competition: Each category’s winning entry receives an $8,000 scholarship. Videos must be submitted by April 1.
- Billboard competition: Each category’s winning design earns a $2,000 scholarship. Billboard entries are due March 1.
- Radio competition: Each category’s winning audio spot receives a $2,000 scholarship. Recordings must be submitted by April 1.
Additional exposure
- The top video may be adapted into an Ad Council PSA and circulated nationally to roughly 1,800 television stations.
- The winning billboard concept may be produced and shown on Clear Channel Outdoor’s digital billboards throughout the U.S.
- The top radio spot may be aired on iHeartRadio’s national network and other radio stations across the country.

Create a video, billboard design, or radio spot that motivates and convinces your peers not to drive while distracted. You have a unique voice among young people—use it to reach others in a way adults can’t. The more people you influence, the more lives you help protect.
