E-Waste Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Digital Responsibility
Each year, between 20 and 50 million tons of electronic waste are thrown away worldwide. E-waste often contains hazardous substances — including heavy metals — that can migrate into soil and ultimately contaminate groundwater. The EPA notes that recycling electronic devices enables more than 100 million pounds of materials to be recovered and reused every year. This scholarship is intended to deepen awareness of e-waste’s environmental effects and to encourage practical approaches for reducing electronic waste. Eligibility - Open to high school students at any grade level (freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior), students who are homeschooled, and to current or incoming college and graduate students at any level. - No upper age limit applies. - Applicants must be U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents. - Application deadline: April 30, 2026 (timed to coincide with Earth Day).
