Boomer Esiason Foundation Academic Scholarships
Scholarship Sponsored by Boomer Esiason Foundation
Overview
The Boomer Esiason Foundation Academic Scholarship helps reduce the financial strain for students living with cystic fibrosis so they can concentrate on their studies and long-term goals. Each year, BEF awards scholarships to students who show academic commitment, perseverance, and determination. Applicants who complete a long-form essay tied to a specific scholarship designation will also be considered for additional financial awards associated with that designation.
Scholarship Designations (optional long-form essay)
When applying, students may choose to respond to a designated essay prompt. Submitting that essay automatically makes the applicant eligible for extra funding tied to that particular designation.
- Bonnie Strangio Memorial Scholarship
- Given to a student who reflects Bonnie’s upbeat, “can-do” outlook—someone who pursues goals with enthusiasm, values family and friendships, and faces life with a positive spirit despite living with CF.
- Rosemary Quigley Memorial Scholarship
- Honors a student who refuses to be limited by CF and who is especially passionate about academics in medicine, health policy, or law—fields aligned with Rosemary’s interests.
- Jerry Cahill “You Cannot Fail” Distinction
- Recognizes a student on a path of self-discovery who embraces challenges, shares their story to encourage others, and celebrates the individual journey that shapes their identity.
- Lea Faraone Memorial Scholarship
- Celebrates a bold, passionate student who lives authentically, is deeply committed to the CF community, and—like Lea—has a love of travel and advocacy.
- Tiffany Rich Memorial Scholarship
- Awarded in memory of Tiffany Rich, who treasured friendship and created joyful, safe spaces for others. This distinction honors applicants who support and uplift people through kindness and encouragement. In Tiffany’s spirit, applicants are encouraged to text or call a friend to express appreciation before submitting their application.
- Team Boomer Distinction
- For a student who incorporates physical fitness and athletic participation into their CF self-care and overall wellness routine.
- Exemplary Graduate Student Distinction
