Awards Available: 2
Deadline : Apr 01, 2026

Introduction
The Missouri Chapter of the American Public Works Association (APWA) brings together engineers, technicians, operations personnel, public works directors, business professionals, contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders to share knowledge, support professional development, and collaborate on community needs. The St. Louis Branch represents members from the Metropolitan St. Louis, Missouri area. The Ken Yost Memorial Scholarship honors Ken Yost, the late Public Works Director of Kirkwood, who died while serving his community.

Scholarship Overview
Each year the St. Louis Branch awards two Ken Yost Memorial Scholarships of $2,000 each to Missouri high school seniors who intend to pursue a college degree that leads to a career in public works—examples include engineering, public administration, or related fields. Funds may be used at any accredited college or university. Eligible applicants must have permanent residence within the geographic boundary of the APWA Missouri Chapter.

Eligibility Requirements
- Plan to enroll in an accredited college or university in a major that prepares for a career in public works (e.g., engineering, public administration, or related disciplines).
- Be a U.S. citizen or a legal immigrant with valid documentation at the time of application.
- Maintain permanent residence within the Missouri Chapter’s geographic boundaries.
- Not have previously received the same APWA Missouri Chapter or Branch scholarship for which they are applying.

Application Materials (required)
1. Completed APWA Scholarship Application form.
2. One letter of reference from either an active Missouri APWA Chapter member or a personal mentor (non-family member such as a teacher, employer, pastor, etc.). One additional reference letter may be submitted (optional). Letters from APWA members are given additional consideration.
3. Official copy of current high school transcript.

Submission Instructions and Timeline
- Combine the completed application, reference letter(s), and any other supporting documents into a single PDF. Send that PDF and transcripts electronically to: sstumpf@f-w.com.
- Applications must be received by 12:00 midnight on April 1.
- Scholarship recipients will be notified no later than May 30.
- Awardees and a guest will be invited to attend an APWA luncheon in St. Louis, typically held in June; attendance is encouraged but not mandatory.

Award Disbursement
Scholarship funds will be released after the recipient provides confirmation of enrollment at the accredited college or university.
