Lazarian Graduate Scholarship

Overview Graduates of an accredited four-year U.S. college or university who are of Armenian descent may apply for the Lazarian Scholarship to support postgraduate study in the United States. Within the same application cycle, one award intended for a student in a science discipline will be granted from the Jacques & Arpy Seferian Family Endowment Fund. Eligibility - Must be of Armenian descent. - Must have graduated from an accredited four-year college or university in the United States. - Must demonstrate financial need. - Must be enrolled in or accepted to a graduate program (Master’s or Doctoral) in one of these areas: law, history, political science, international relations, journalism, government, economics, business administration, medicine, public service, or a closely related field. Required Application Materials All items listed below must accompany the completed application form: - Official undergraduate (and, if applicable, graduate) transcript(s) bearing the institution’s raised seal. Transcripts must include grades through the first semester of the current academic year. Photocopies or faxed copies will not be accepted. - A current statement of tuition costs from your school (for example, the latest official bulletin or a published statement of costs). - Your most recent income tax return. - Three letters of recommendation: one from a member of the Armenian community; one academic reference issued on the school’s official letterhead (typed); and one additional recommender of your choice. - Proof of enrollment in a graduate program or official acceptance documentation. Incomplete applications or those missing required documents will not be considered. Selection Criteria Awards are granted based on demonstrated financial need, academic achievement, and participation in the Armenian community. Applicants are encouraged to provide information about each of these areas in their submission. Terms of Award Scholarships are granted for one academic year only. Recipients may reapply the following year, but awards are not automatically renewed. An applicant may receive up to two Lazarian Scholarships in total.
