The AAU Karate Scholarship program was unveiled to members at the 2004 AAU Karate National Championships in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Over the past ten (10) years, the program has provided support to many deserving athletes.
Purpose and Name
The AAU Karate Michael Eggleston Sr. Memorial Scholarship honors Michael (Mike) Eggleston Sr., a dedicated member of the AAU Karate community. Sensei Eggleston — who served as an athlete, coach, official, and volunteer — exemplified the AAU Karate spirit. He passed away unexpectedly in May 2021, and his legacy continues within the program.
